  • U.S. News & World Report Names Holy Cross Hospital Among Best in Miami-Fort Lauderdale Metro Area

    The Fort Lauderdale hospital ranked high-performing in five areas of care, tied for 3rd in South Florida and 13th in the state 

    FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Holy Cross Hospital has been recognized as a Best Hospital for 2018-19 by U.S. News & World Report.

    The annual Best Hospitals rankings, now in their 29th year, are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or for common elective procedures.

  • Holy Cross Medical Group Adds Radiation Oncologist Vivek Patel

    FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Dr. Vivek Narendra Patel has joined the Holy Cross Medical Group, a multi-specialty physician employed group of more than 130 physicians providing services throughout Broward and Palm Beach counties.

    Dr. Patel completed his residency in internal medicine at JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, Fla. and received his medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine where he also graduated with honors with a B.S. in biology.

  • Bienes Cancer Center Reaccredited by NAPBC

    The Michael and Dianne Bienes Comprehensive Cancer Center has been granted a three-year, full accreditation designation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons.  Accreditation by the NAPBC is only given to those centers that have voluntarily committed to provide the highest level of quality breast care and that undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance.  

  • Clinical trial provides BRCA testing at no charge for women and men with a certain type of breast cancer

    The Holy Cross Hospital cancer research program announces that it has a clinical trial that provides BRCA testing at no charge for women and men with a certain type of breast cancer. The trial is called the Brocade 3 Study. For BRCA-positive patients the clinical trial involves an investigational medication given along with standard of care treatment. 

  • New $50,000 Grant Enables Holy Cross Hospital to Provide Cancer Treatment Through Genetic Profiles

    Holy Cross Hospital has received $50,000 from Community Foundation of Broward for its “Cancel Cancer - Cancer Research & Support” program at the Holy Cross Cancer Research Institute. This will enable Holy Cross Hospital to transform the way cancer patients are treated based on their genetic makeup or the genetic profile of an individual’s tumor. The Cancel Cancer grant makes it possible to bring these new personalized medicine cancer therapies to 50-100 Broward patients who have not previously had access to genetic screening.

Cancer risk assessment, screening and prevention programs are vital to educating people about reducing their chances of developing cancer and assessing the need for intervention. Under the direction of our genetic nurse counselor and the Bienes Cancer Center physicians, our Cancer Risk and Prevention Program is for anyone with cancer or a family history of cancer. The vast majority of participants are women who have or have had breast or ovarian cancer, or are at high risk of developing these two cancers. Click to learn more about Genetic Counseling.
