Michael and Dianne Bienes Comprehensive Cancer Center, Holy Cross Hospital
In collaboration with Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, our state-of-the-art facility in Broward County (South Florida) provides our physicians with access to national resources to treat all types of cancer, including but not limited to breast cancer, colon cancer, lung cancer, pancreatic cancer and prostate cancer.
Holy Cross Hospital’s Michael and Dianne Bienes Comprehensive Cancer Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). These accreditations recognize organizations who demonstrate a multidisciplinary team approach to coordinate the best care and treatment options available. The NAPBC requires all patients to have access to breast cancer-related information, education and support; provide breast cancer data collection on quality indicators for all subspecialties involved in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment; provide ongoing monitoring and improvement of care; and offer information about clinical trials and new treatment options.
We are also certified by the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®), an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), for meeting the highest standards for quality cancer care and rigorous safety measures established by ASCO and the Oncology Nursing Society.
Multidisciplinary Disease-Specific Clinics
Cancer care involves multiple physicians and caregivers (oncologist, surgeon, radiation oncologist, social worker, oncology nurses, spiritual care personnel, physical therapists, etc.), and the coordination of this care saves the patient much time and worry. The Michael and Dianne Bienes Comprehensive Cancer Center offers multidisciplinary disease-specific clinics where patients can receive complete cancer care from one location.
The Bienes Cancer Center is a comprehensive community cancer center providing cutting edge cancer services in a multi-disciplinary fashion. Our Team of cancer specialists, along with our partners at the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, offer the latest treatments in the fight against cancer including access to advanced clinical trials, intensity modulated radiation therapy, and tumor specific targeted chemo/biotherapy. Our weekly cancer conferences allows our multi-specialty physicians and clinical support team members to meet and discuss individual cancer cases to determine the best possible treatment options for our patients.
Our Cancer Center is nationally accredited by both the Commission on Cancer and the National Accreditation Programs for Breast Centers. Our Cancer specialty physician team is comprised of medical oncologists, hematologists, radiation oncologists and surgeons, including (2) that are Oncology fellowship trained. Cancer risk assessment, screening and prevention programs are vital to educating people about reducing their chances of developing cancer and assessing the need for intervention. Under the direction of our genetic nurse counselor and the Bienes Cancer Center physicians, our Cancer Risk and Prevention Program is for anyone with cancer or a family history of cancer. The vast majority of participants are women who have or have had breast or ovarian cancer, or are at high risk of developing these two cancers. Click to learn more about Genetic Counseling.
